GFWC Virginia released the Call to the Annual Summer Conference and we’re gearing up for an ‘enlightening’ experience!
Slated for August 12-14, the 2022 GFWC VA Conference will be held at the Natural Bridge Historic Hotel & Conference Center at Natural Bridge.
Not only is Natural Bridge less than four hours from Grundy, but it’s quite the sight, too. The amazing staff at Natural Bridge often prepare special experiences for their guests. And this year is no different!
Park rangers will be on hand for clubwomen who have an interest in observing Perseid’s Meteor Shower at Jefferson Point. Clubwomen can either hike or take a relaxing wagon ride along Skyline Trail on Friday, August 12. Of course, light pollution for such an activity is discouraged; so, only red light flashlights are welcome.
And, on Saturday, August 13, a dramatic narration of the seven days of Creation, accompanied by classical music and moving lights events, will be featured. Guests can either walk down from the hotel or take the shuttle bus.
Opening session for the state conference begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, and we’ll be joined by Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources Executive Director Ryan Brown.
GFWC Virginia First Vice President/Leadership Chairman Susie Mowry will introduce clubwomen to our new state chairmen who will lead presentations, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Unlike past years when we’ve disbursed into breakout sessions, having to choose between a few different discussions all being held at the same time, this conference appears to have all clubwomen sticking together in one room.
Resuming her role as GFWC VA Fundraising Chairman, Faye Bocock will be speaking. Faye is a past president for Southwestern District and currently serves as club president for Pennington Gap Woman’s Club.
Of course, a few things may change in the agenda before August. Regardless, we’re looking forward to an ‘illuminating’ time of learning, ideas-sharing, and fellowship with our fellow clubwomen.
