Postponements & Cancellations

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has forced the cancellation of numerous events and meetings across the Commonwealth of Virginia, including the 2020 GFWC Virginia Convention, the GFWC Grundy Woman’s Club resorted to an electronic means of meeting this month.

While electronic meetings are occasionally necessary for use by the Executive Board, this was a first for the club in replacement of the typical face-to-face meeting.

Grundy Club utilizes e-meeting in lieu of physical meeting

Members of the Club received an email commencing the meeting on April 3, allowing for a three-day response window. At 6 p.m. on April 6 – the date and time the Club’s regular monthly meeting would have begun – the meeting was closed and the results were provided through email verification.

The Club approved its March minutes, filed the Treasurer’s Report as presented, received a report on the STEM Project, received sign-up sheets for our College Shower, and issued several postponements and cancellations.

Cancellations

The following projects/events have been cancelled:

  • Cinderella’s Closet
  • Autism 5K

Postponements

The following projects/events have been postponed at this time:

  • Empowering Women Conference at the SWVA Higher Education Center
  • Buttons, Bows & Pantyhose fundraiser
  • Dr. Amanda’s baby shower (She is registered at Amazon.com)
  • Women’s Suffrage event at BCPL

The College Shower, which club members expect will be postponed, will resume as soon as physical meetings can once again take place. Those wishing to sign up to bring a certain gift for our two graduates may contact Education Chairman Kim Long to inform her at this time.

Additionally, since the slate of 2020-2022 officers were approved during the Club’s March meeting, those officers will take office immediately and an installation ceremony will be postponed until a later date.

It is our hope that we will be able to resume with regular monthly meetings as soon as possible – perhaps, even during the usual summer break (June, July, and August). Until then, continue to check our Facebook page and other social media for updates and continued projects.
