The GFWC Grundy Woman’s Club would like to invite the public to attend its free Membership Tea on Sunday, Aug. 25.
Beginning at 2 p.m., the event will be held at the new Southern Gap Visitors Center, where light refreshments will be served.
The event kicks off the beginning of the Grundy club’s 2019-2020 term. Additionally, it serves as an introduction of the club for potential new members, providing a fun, relaxed atmosphere for women to learn what it means to be a part of the local volunteer organization. Children are welcome.
An affiliated member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the Grundy club participates in a number of community service and advancement projects throughout the year. For potential members to learn more about these projects, each will be on full display and represented by a different Grundy clubwoman, who will share some insights and stories from previous years.
Although the name Grundy Woman’s Club might lead some to believe members must reside in Grundy, clubwomen hail from all over Buchanan County and beyond. For others, the name brings to mind the idea of well-connected socialites. However, the club is none of those things. Women range from all walks of life – from younger mothers, to Baby Boomers, to senior citizens. As the GFWC motto ‘Unity in Diversity’ implies, women in the Grundy club are as different as where they come from and what’s in their bank accounts.
For those interested in benefitting their community – whether through participation in one project or several – the club invites them to attend this year’s Membership Tea to find out if the Grundy Woman’s Club might be the perfect fit.
